Puvirnituq Snow Festival

A Snow Festival Is Bi-Annual Winter Traditional Week Ones Every 2 Years.

Outdoors/Traditional Activities And Artist Applications Will Be Available Fall 2025.

Every two years, The Inuit come to Puvirnituq for approximately a week for the Snow Festival. On this occasion, different, exciting activities are put on, from outdoor activities, snow and ice sculptures contests to traditional games and competitions.

36^th Year Anniversary on March 2027, The Puvirnituq Snow Festival Was Starting to Fundraise on June 1990 and Start Their First Ever Festival On March 1991@

Our next festival will be held from March 22 to 27, 2027.

Reclaiming and The Theme of the festival is “Qimutsik”. Meaning Dog Sled or Dog Team. A dog sled or dog Team is a sled pulled by one or more sled dogs used to travel over ice and through snow. Decided/Dated By Our Uvillukuit September 2025.

In 2007, a five-metre-high polar bear made of snow marked the festivities. In 2005, participants worked on a massive structure together: a giant igloo, 40 metres around and five metres high. More than 400 people entered it simultaneously. Every evening, music, dance and artistic performances are found at the community centre.
